Jamaat-e-Islami’s Foreign Affairs Director Highlights Strong Pakistan-China Ties and Calls for Constitutional Supremacy

Karachi, In a significant diplomatic meeting, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Foreign Affairs Director, Asif Luqman Qazi, met with Minister Consul Yang Nuo at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad. The discussion centered on enhancing Pakistan-China relations, with a focus on deepening party-level ties between Jamaat-e-Islami and the Communist Party of China.

According to Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, the meeting covered a range of topics including the current political situation in Pakistan, efforts to stabilize the region, and the future of Pakistan-China relations post-elections. Asif Luqman Qazi emphasized the enduring bond between the people of Pakistan and China, stating that this relationship transcends political affiliations.

Qazi expressed optimism that the forthcoming government would further strengthen the Pakistan-China friendship. He highlighted the significance of the Special Economic Zones associated with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in bolstering Pakistan’s economy. Additionally, Qazi thanked the Chinese government for its stance on Palestine and for welcoming a Hamas delegation in Beijing, actions he noted are greatly appreciated by the Pakistani people.

Addressing domestic issues, Qazi underscored Jamaat-e-Islami’s commitment to constitutional supremacy in Pakistan. He condemned any extra-constitutional arrangements as detrimental to the country’s political stability, citing the obstruction of a Jamaat-e-Islami mayor’s election in Karachi as an unconstitutional act that undermines democratic institutions.

On regional matters, Qazi stressed the importance of good relations with Afghanistan and suggested that China could play a pivotal role in fostering harmony in the region.

Yang Nuo, in response, conveyed a message of goodwill from Liu Xian Zhou, the head of the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Commission for International Affairs, to Jamaat-e-Islami leader Sirajul Haq. Nuo affirmed the Communist Party of China’s appreciation for the relationship with Jamaat-e-Islami and lauded the party’s charitable work in Pakistan.
