Karachi, In a major political development, Jamaat-e-Islami has issued tickets to 222 candidates for national assembly seats and 520 for provincial assembly seats in Pakistan’s upcoming elections. This announcement marks a significant step in the party’s campaign strategy, positioning them as a formidable force in the electoral race.
According to Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, the declaration was made by Dr. Farid Ahmad Paracha, the Naib Emir and Secretary of the Election Cell of Jamaat-e-Islami. At a meeting of the Central Election Cell in Mansoora, Dr. Paracha outlined the party’s manifesto, which is described as the first of its kind, drawing inspiration from Islamic teachings.
The manifesto includes a series of ambitious promises, such as providing two lakh rupees annually to every poor family, ensuring free education and healthcare, and maintaining a maximum Goods and Services Tax (GST) of five percent. Additionally, the manifesto promises free electricity and petrol, elimination of incentives, interest-free loans for farmers, and a 20% reduction in electricity prices.
This meeting was attended by prominent party members, including Naib Amir Lahore Zikrullah Mujahid, Amir Nisar, Imran Zahoor Ghazi, Hafiz Saifur Rahman, Farhan Shaukat Hanjara, Umar Farooq, Ayaz Umar, and Zafar Nikiana. Dr. Paracha expressed the party’s determination to implement these promises if they are elected to power.
With the elections scheduled for February 8, Jamaat-e-Islami’s extensive candidate list and unique manifesto have set a new tone for the electoral battle. The party’s commitment to Islamic principles in governance and social welfare has added a distinctive dimension to Pakistan’s political discourse.
