Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Announces Candidates for National and Provincial Assemblies

Lahore, In a significant move ahead of the upcoming elections, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Naib Emir and Secretary of the Election Cell, Dr. Farid Ahmad Paracha, announced that the party has issued tickets to 222 candidates for National Assembly seats and 520 for Provincial Assembly seats across Pakistan. This announcement was made during a meeting of the Central Election Cell in Mansoora, indicating Jamaat-e-Islami’s readiness to compete vigorously in the electoral arena.

According to Jamaat-E-Islami Pakistan, the party has not only fielded candidates in all constituencies but has also presented what Dr. Paracha describes as the ‘first revolutionary manifesto’, claiming it to be inspired by Islamic principles. Key participants in the meeting included Naib Amir Lahore Zikrullah Mujahid, along with other prominent members such as Amir Nisar, Imran Zahoor Ghazi, Hafiz Saifur Rahman, Farhan Shaukat Hanjara, Umar Farooq, Ayaz Umar, and Zafar Nikiana.

Dr. Paracha outlined several ambitious promises contained in the manifesto, which includes an annual grant of two lakh rupees to each poor family, free education and healthcare, capping the General Sales Tax (GST) at five percent, and abolishing various government officials’ incentives. The manifesto also promises interest-free loans for farmers and a 20% reduction in electricity prices. Furthermore, it advocates for free electricity and petrol for government officials.

Emphasizing the party’s commitment to its electoral promises, Dr. Paracha stated that upon coming to power, Jamaat-e-Islami will ensure the full implementation of its manifesto. He encouraged the public to support Jamaat-e-Islami in the upcoming elections by voting for the party’s symbol, the scales, on February 8.
