Islamia University of Bahawalpur Hosts Seminar on CMS Experimental Virtual Visit to CERN

Bahawalpur, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s Department of Particle Physics, Institute of Physics, recently organized a one-day seminar in the Main Auditorium on the CMS Experimental Virtual Visit to CERN, Geneva. The seminar aimed to enlighten students about modern technology and scientific advancements in understanding the universe’s mysteries. Additionally, it underscored the significance of physics in various industries.

According to The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, the successful organization of the seminar was attributed to the efforts of Dr. Saeed Ahmed Buzdar, Director of the Institute of Physics, and Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Baloch, Head of the Particle Physics Group. The seminar was conducted in a hybrid mode, allowing for both physical and virtual participation. During the event, the CMS teams conducted a short virtual visit, and Dr. Shema Abu Zaid, a Distinguished Assistant Professor and CERN Fellow, delivered an insightful talk on particle physics, with a focus on the standard model and top quark physics.

The closing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmed Buzdar, Dean Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Dr. Faisal Iqbal, and other esteemed faculty members. In his concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Buzdar emphasized the importance of modern research and technology in advancing scientific fields and commended Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Baloch for his dedication, encouraging others to follow suit in promoting research excellence.
