IoBM Hosts Seminar on Enhancing Educational Effectiveness in Karachi

Karachi, The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) in Karachi recently organized a seminar titled ‘Enhancing Education Effectiveness’, focusing on improving academic and research standards in higher education institutions (HEIs).

According to Institute of Business Management, the event, held on January 18, 2024, featured key speakers including Mr. Saleemuddin from Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC), Mr. Yousaf Jamil of Iqra University, and Dr. Arshia Samin Naqvi from Sohail University. The seminar delved into methodologies for achieving QS Rankings by HEIs, fostering an academic and research-oriented environment, faculty development, and enhancing the overall impact of education. The acting rector of IoBM, Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, and Director QEC, Dr. Shahid Amjad, attended the event along with representatives from various Karachi HEIs and IoBM’s faculty and management.

During the seminar, Dr. Shahid Amjad opened the proceedings by outlining IoBM’s QEC achievements and activities. Mr. Muhammad Yousaf Jamil shared strategies for HEIs to achieve a QS Ranking, emphasizing aspects such as academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, and international faculty and students. Dr. Arshia Samin Naqvi discussed Institutional Performance Effectiveness, noting the role of rankings in creating a competitive academic environment and addressing challenges posed by globalization and the fourth industrial revolution. Mr. Saleemuddin presented Sindh HEC’s quality assurance initiatives, which include training, SDG-focused activities, and the development of strategic plans and KPIs for HEIs. In his vote of thanks, Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro highlighted the importance of collaboration among HEIs to improve Pakistan’s educational landscape. The seminar was organized by IoBM’s QEC team, including Atif Shahab Butt, Maria Asad, and Dania Raheel.
