Islamabad, The Department of Teacher Education at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), held a significant panel discussion titled “Empowering Futures: Right to Education vs. Child Labour” to observe Labour Day, focusing on the urgent need to prioritize children’s education over labor.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the event brought together a distinguished panel, including Dr. Tabassum Naz from the Federal Directorate of Education and Ms. Nazneen Zehra from Basic Education Community Schools, among others, to discuss various aspects of child labor and the transformative power of education. The panelists emphasized that education is a fundamental right that should be accessible to all children and discussed the socio-economic factors contributing to child labor.
The discussion also covered the critical role of teachers and community involvement in combating child labor. Teachers were recognized for their pivotal role in encouraging inclusive educational environments, while community partnerships were noted as essential for identifying and supporting at-risk children.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean of the Faculty of Education at IIUI, praised the organizers and participants for their commitment to using education as a tool for social transformation. The event concluded with a collective resolve to continue efforts to ensure every child’s right to education is upheld.
