High-level research on crops with the help of intercropping technology 

Bahawalpur, July 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Islamia University Bahawalpur, following the vision of Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor carrying high-level research on cotton, corn and soybean intercropping technology and other crops contributing in Govt’s efforts of national food security and promoting agricultural economy.

Under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Naeem, Associate Professor, Chairman, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, genetic improvement of rice crop yield and quality is being researched.

Experiments on Rice Crop development of tetrapod basmati rice, multiplication and evaluation of pigments in rice genotypes, high yield, early maturing rice with high biomass index, evaluation of temperature resistant rice genotypes research initiatives such as development and evaluation of extra-long grain rice genotypes are being carried out.

Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jameel said that more research is needed on the agricultural sector to improve the economy of Pakistan. Rice is an important cash crop of Pakistan. He added that agricultural research is being done and appreciated at the national level.
