CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi chairs 7th provincial cabinet meeting

Lahore, December 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi presided over a 7th provincial cabinet meeting at CM office today. CM while addressing the meeting stated that the Punjab government is nicely performing its duty to render public service adding that we are all united and will remain so. Imran Khan is our leader and we welcome his call. The alliance of PTI and PML-Q is strong and those trying to create cracks will meet with failure as earlier.

Our alliance is meant to serve the public and no conspiracy can stop us from providing service to the masses of Punjab. Those indulging into conspiracies will bite the dust. Approval was granted to induct 25 thousands teachers in the School Education department under the chair of CM Parvez Elahi during the cabinet meeting.

CM Parvez Elahi said that Malala Yousafzai made a request to him for inducting 25 thousands teachers in the schools during her meeting. CM directed to complete the induction process of 25 thousand teachers at the earliest.

The Punjab cabinet took a mega step with regard to provision of justice to the common man and granted approval to provide free legal aid and approval was granted of Punjab Public Defender Service Bill 2020 in this regard.

CM said that the Punjab government will provide free legal aid to those having scarce resources and 1000 employment opportunities will be generated with the approval of Punjab Public Defender Service Bill adding that provision of justice to the common man will be ensured.

The Punjab cabinet granted approval to extend the scope regarding provision of solar pumps for the farmers across the province. CM maintained that the agriculture sector will prosper with the launching of the solar pumps provision programme. The provision of water will be ensured to the farmers and would increase agricultural production.

It was decided during the Punjab cabinet meeting to formulate a new policy so as to grant ownership rights to the residents of Katchi Abadies. CM directed SMBR to give a final shape to the new policy as soon as possible. The Punjab cabinet granted approval to establish a sports endowment fund worth Rs. 2 billion.

CM Parvez Elahi revealed that international coaches will be called to Pakistan in order to impart training to the local players adding that an endowment fund will be spent for the welfare of players. Approval was accorded to grant special allowance to the Lady Health Supervisors of IRMNCH and Nutrition Programme Punjab.

CM granted approval to increase special allowance upto 5000 rupees. Approval was also granted during the meeting for the special grant of Punjab Institute of Language Art and Culture (PILAC) worth Rs. 25 crore. CM outlined that all possible steps will be taken to promote Punjabi Language and Culture in the province. Approval was granted to amend Punjab Government Advertisement Policy 2020.

CM censured that Shehbaz Sharif ruined the advertisement policy adding that it is necessary to provide adequate quota of advertisements to the regional newspapers along with the national newspapers. CM highlighted that the amount of work which was done in the last four months could not be done in the last ten years. The masses can be imparted awareness only through advertisement.

CM directed to lay special focus on social media and remarked that the present era belongs to digital media. Social media wing will be made more effective in the DGPR office. The cabinet also granted approval to provide additional resources for the Annual Development Programme 2022-23.

CM revealed that Rs. 50 billion are enhanced in the capacity of Annual Development Programme of Punjab adding that the capacity of Annual Development Programme has increased 685 billion rupees to 726 billion rupees.

Rs. 85 billion additional was being spent in the development funds during five months of the current fiscal year in comparison to last year. Approval was granted to make amendments in the Public Sector Universities Act 2022 during the meeting.

Approval was granted to delegate the appointment authority to the Higher Education Department for appointing principals up to grade 19 in the government colleges. The Punjab cabinet also granted approval to purchase 300 environment friendly hybrid buses in Lahore. CM disclosed that Rs. 15 billion will be spent on the purchase of 300 environment friendly buses.

Separate bus stops will be established and separate buses will be run for women in Lahore. Special seats will be fixed near the doors of buses for blind and other differently-abled persons. Approval was granted for the appointment of caretaker General Manager Punjab Pension Funds Muhammad Sajid.

The Punjab cabinet also granted approval to start the recruitment process for the appointment on a regular basis for the post of general manager Punjab Pension Funds to the management committee. The Punjab cabinet also granted approval to utilize commercial accounts in the current funds along with formulating policy of investment and establishing cash management fund.

Investment will be made in the government securities through cash management funds. The investment management committee will review all matters relating to funds. The profit being accrued from investment will be spent on the development.

Approval was granted during the meeting to set up Ch. Anwar Ali Cheema Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha along with incorporating the scheme in the annual development programme. CM granted approval to purchase Thallium scan and other necessary machinery in order to improve treatment facilities in the Institute of Cardiology Bahawalpur.

The Punjab cabinet granted approval for the issuance of grant worth Rs. 27 crore for the bar associations. Approval was also granted for the issuance of funds amounting to Rs. 129. 49 million for acquiring land adjoining land from the main gate of Jinnah Public School and College Hafiz Hayat Gujrat.

Approval was granted during the meeting for the extension in the term of Member (General) Muhammad Irfan of Punjab Environmental Tribunal under Punjab Environmental Tribunal Rules 2012, demarcation and transfer of government land to establish Mango Research Center at Rahim Yar Khan, Limestone Policy for Better Utilization of Mineral Reserves under Punjab Mining Concession Rules, 2002 and amendments in relevant sections of Rock Salt Uniform Policy 2022 and Punjab Mining Concession Rules 2002.

A principle approval was also accorded to grant special allowance to the officers and staff members of Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR). Approval was granted to give honorarium to the security staff performing their duties in the Chief Minister’s office.

Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and the Punjab Cabinet expressed their good wishes for the permanently appointed Chief Secretary Abdullah Sumbal and the new Inspector General of Police Aamir Zulfiqar. Senior Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, Provincial Ministers, Advisors, Special Assistants, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police and senior officials attended the meeting.
