Rescheduling of 3rd Asian Youth Games Shantou 2021 

Lahore, September 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has informed the NOCs today that in view of the current situation of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Olympic Council of Asia, the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games Organizing Committee (SAYGOC) have made a joint decision to reschedule the 3rd Asian Youth Games, which was planned for 20-28 November 2021, to the new dates of 20-28 December 2022. The postponed Games will keep its original name “Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games”. A copy of the OCA letter dated 08 September, 2021 regarding rescheduling the Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games is attached for information and reference, please.

Botswana, Cameroon and Eswatini to compete in their first ICC Women’s event 

Dubai, September 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):Botswana, Cameroon and Eswatini will compete in an ICC women’s event for the very first time this week, as the Africa Qualifier to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 begins.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier supported by Dream 11 is two steps away from the World Cup on the road to South Africa 2023. Hosts Botswana, Eswatini, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe will comprise group A, whilst Cameroon, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Uganda will form group B in the 11-team tournament to be played in Gaborone from 9 to 19 September.

The top two teams from each group will play in the semi-finals, before the two finalists compete for the lone qualification spot to the Global Qualifier 2022, on 19 September. The event also provides the opportunity for teams to move up the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings with Zimbabwe (12th) the highest ranked out of all participating teams, and Uganda (18th) and Tanzania (19th) also featuring in the top 20.

On the back of the successful live streaming of the European Women’s Qualifier, there is now another opportunity to catch live women’s cricket. For the Africa Qualifier, the live streaming arrangement between IMG Arena and ICC will be produced by CricClubs, with each match available to view live on FanCode in the Indian sub-continent and on ICC.tv in the rest of the world.

In all, there will be 29 Women’s T20 Internationals streamed across the event. Highlights and the very best in-play moments will be shared on ICC’s digital assets, providing additional exposure to the event, giving fans an opportunity to watch the action on-demand.

Botswana captain Laura Mophakedi said: “It is a great privilege for us as Botswana to be participating in the Africa Qualifier to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 for the first time and to also be hosting in these difficult times. We have been working towards the tournament covering all aspects of the game and improving from the playing experience we recently had in Rwanda. We are expecting a very competitive tournament and we are up for the challenge especially with home ground advantage. I will also take this opportunity to wish all the other teams participating all the best.”

Cameroon captain Michele Solange Ekani Ngono said: “Given that this is the first time that we are participating in this tournament, it is a great opportunity and opens doors for my team and our country. We have been playing cricket for a few years in Cameroon and the event provides a great platform where we can showcase our talent. We will make use of this opportunity given to us to make our country proud.”

Due to a player in the Cameroon team receiving a positive result from an arrival COVID-19 test, the whole squad has been placed in isolation until Saturday and will then re-test. The ICC has developed and implemented robust biosafety protocols, consistent with international best practice, that safeguard the wellbeing of all participants, spectators and host nation communities during an ICC event, the individuals currently affected are being provided the best possible medical support.

PCB signs three-year agreement with CricHQ and CricViz

Lahore, September 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Cricket Board has signed a three-year agreement with internationally renowned scoring platform CricHQ and world’s leading cricket data providers CricViz.

CricHQ will be PCB’s live scoring partner and will digitise scoring from grassroots level all the way up to the top-tier of Pakistan cricket which is the First XIs of the six Cricket Associations. The partnership will enable the PCB to collect data and analyse player performances using match reports and statistics.

Additionally, CricHQ will also provide video automation and capturing solutions for domestic matches in order to help coaches and players analyse performances.

CricViz, widely regarded as one of the leading data analytics software in the world, will give the PCB analysts and coaches the licenses to their query tool. The analysts and coaches will also be trained on the software to help in preparation of pre-match, during match and post-match analysis using the software.

Both partnerships are in line with the PCB’s plan to upgrade its data analytical wing to provide state of the art data analysis, match plus player impacts etc. These tools will help in modernising Pakistan cricket in terms of data analysis and selection of players.

The players are also set to make considerable gains as the tools are designed to help improve their performances while overcoming the flaws in techniques that might creep in their game from time to time.

Sindh – City Cricket Association U19 Tournament 2021-22 Code of Conduct Violations

Lahore, September 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):Sanghar have been fined PKR10,000 for maintaining a slow over-rate during their U19 City Cricket Association Tournament 2021-22 match against Shaheed Benazirabad at the Bilawal Cricket Stadium, Shaheed Benazirabad on Tuesday.

Sanghar were one over short of their target after taking into account time allowances and, as such, were charged under Article 2.22 of the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel that deals with minimum over-rate offences.

On-field umpires Abdul Moqeet and Muhammad Kaleem levelled the charge.

157-match senior events schedule announced 

Lahore, September 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced the schedule of six senior events, which will be played in the Pakistan Domestic Season 2021-22. Quetta’s Bugti Stadium will host the season opening Cricket Associations T20 from 15 September, while curtains will fall at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore with the final of the Pakistan Cup on 30 March 2022.

Apart from these two senior tournaments, the PCB will stage the National T20, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Cricket Associations Championship and Cricket Associations Challenge. This means there will be 157 matches in the period from 15 September and 30 March, making 2021-22 a mouth-watering, exciting and competitive season of domestic cricket.

The details and schedule of the pathways cricket, including the U13, U16 and U19 tournaments, will be announced in due course.

The participants who are either fully vaccinated or have received their first jabs will be eligible to participate in the season. Each participant will undergo first PCR test at his place of residence three days prior to travel and will confine themselves to their homes until their scheduled travel.

The PCB will be conduct the second PCR test at the central station, subject to first negative test.

During the tournament, Rapid Antigen tests will be carried out after every five days or when the team travels to a different destination, while random RT-PCR tests will be conducted at select events.

Any participant, who tests positive in Antigen test will be isolated immediately and undergo a RT-PCR. If the test result is positive, then he will be quarantined for 10 days.

At team hotels, the players will be allowed to visit designated areas, but mask wearing and social distancing is mandatory.

Detailed PCB Covid-19 Protocols have been shared with the team managers who, with the support of the team physiotherapist, will be responsible for the implementation.

Meanwhile, the PCB has also confirmed umpire and match referee panels for the senior events. The Elite match officials will be involved in the National T20, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and Pakistan Cup, while the match officials in the Supplementary Panel will officiate Cricket Associations T20, Cricket Associations Championship and Cricket Associations Challenge matches.

The Elite Match Referees for the 2021-22 season include Ali Naqvi, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Anees, Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh, Mohammad Javed Malik and Nadeem Arshad, while the Elite Umpires are: Aftab Hussain Gillani, Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob, Faisal Khan Afridi, Ghaffar Kazmi, Imran Jawed, Nasir Hussain Sr., Qaiser Waheed, Rashid Riaz Waqar, Saqib Khan, Shozab Raza, Syed Imtiaz Iqbal, Waleed Yaqub and Zameer Haider.

PCB and TransGroup International to partner for bilateral home series 

Lahore, September 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):TransGroup International has secured the rights for the five bilateral home series that will be hosted in Pakistan in the 2021-22 cricket season.

The upcoming cricket season is set to be one of the busiest home seasons in Pakistan’s cricketing history with tours by New Zealand and England (men’s and women’s) before next month’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup followed by tours by the West Indies and Australia.

TransGroup International will have the ground and sponsorship rights for the entire bilateral international cricket season which commences with the first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on Friday, 17 September.

Besides TransGroup International, Surf Excel, Lifebuoy and Tapal Tea will also be sponsoring the international bilateral cricket season as part of their existing partnership deals with the PCB.
