Capital University visited Islamia University Bahawalpur for Project Meeting of SAFE-RH Pakistani Partners

Islamabad, March 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Capital University of Science and Technology Islamabad with COMSATS University Wah visited Islamia University Bahawalpur for a two-day project meeting of SAFE-RH on Thursday 24th February 2022 to discuss the current progress and further agenda of research. SAFE-Rural-Health is a project funded by European Union which provides an education and training system to help doctors and healthcare workers understand the effectiveness of new technologies. It is aimed to develop a system that can provide digital health services to patients living in remote areas of Pakistan which are often difficult to reach. The overall objective of developing Smart Healthcare system in Pakistan is to support the provision of healthcare services.

The seminar titled “Transformation to Smart Health Services” on day one was arranged for the awareness of the project with different doctors and medical students at IUB old campus. Prof Dr. Naeem Ramzan, from the University of the West of Scotland, Dr. Nayyer Masood from Capital University of Science and Technology, Islamabad, Dr. Ehsan Ullah Munir from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad and Dr. Dost Muhammad Khan from Islamia University Bahawalpur discussed the project overview and its impact on the health sector of Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Pro Vice-Chancellor, IUB graced the seminar as the chief guest. Deans, Directors, Faculty Members, Medical Doctors, Researchers and dignitaries attended the seminar.

On day two, A Technical Session of project “Sensing, ArtiFicial Intelligence, and Edge Networking Towards Rural Health Monitoring” was held on Saturday 26th February 2022 in SAFE-RH Lab. IUB. Dr. Nayyer Masood and his team from Capital University of Science and Technology, Islamabad, Dr. Ehsan Ullah Munir and his team from COMSATS University Islamabad Wah Campus and Dr. Dost Muhammad Khan and his team from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur discussed 3 different pilots, architecture and implementation of project in different rural areas.

The purpose of the visit was to get insights into the current progress of each partner University and to build up more collaborative strategies of the SAFE-RH project. The project meeting helped all the participants to understand the works of each partner University. Furthermore, it provided opportunities for the members to exchange new ideas and new tasks to be accomplished were set by each partner along with the deadline of completion. Each partner gave presentations of their work done, and ongoing work.
