Hyderabad, Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has called for an end to the politics of extremism, hate, and division in society while addressing the challenges posed by climate change. His remarks were made at the Ayaz Mela in Hyderabad, an event organized to honor the late Sindhi poet Sheikh Ayaz.
According to Pakistan People’s Party, Zardari emphasized the importance of respecting differing opinions in politics without turning disagreements into personal animosity. He reiterated the PPP’s commitment to inclusivity and unity, asserting that the party has consistently demonstrated its ability to bring people together.
Zardari stressed that the victory belongs to the people when they realize and overcome divisive tactics. He pointed out that Pakistan’s economic challenges, extremism, and geopolitical conditions cannot be addressed with a divisive approach. He called upon intellectuals and the youth to steer the country in the right direction, highlighting their vital role in national progress.
Discussing climate change, Zardari underscored the urgency of educating the public about this existential threat. He highlighted the risks posed by the melting of Himalayan glaciers, which threaten 250 million people, and called for a change in the country’s development vision in response to these environmental challenges.
Zardari also spoke about the importance of embracing Pakistan’s history and diverse cultures. He lamented the suppression of history, culture, and languages in the country and expressed his dream of creating a Pakistan where every child is aware of their heritage, including knowledge of Mohen Jo Daro.
The PPP Chairman also discussed initiatives for the youth, including the introduction of the Youth Card and Youth Centers. These programs aim to provide financial assistance to educated but unemployed youth and offer library, vocational training, and sports facilities at the district level.
Zardari concluded his address by appreciating the organizers of Ayaz Mela and paying tribute to Sheikh Ayaz’s legacy. The event, which marked the 9th Ayaz Mela, was also attended by former Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sardar Shah, and other PPP leaders.
