Arslan Khalid Criticizes Sindh Government Over Alleged Solar Scheme Fraud and Energy Policies

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi General Secretary Arslan Khalid has openly criticized Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah's recent budget announcement of a solar panel scheme, labeling it as a deceptive tactic against the public. In his statement, Khalid raised concerns about the Sindh government's energy policies and alleged corruption, focusing on the unfulfilled solar project previously announced by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khalid questioned the whereabouts of the solar project and demanded accountability for the alleged Rs 3 billion corruption during Nasir Hussain Shah's tenure as a minister. He urged the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to initiate an investigation into the alleged fraud. Khalid accused the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) government of prioritizing new avenues for corruption over providing relief to the impoverished, terming the solar scheme as a new "paper drama."

Khalid also criticized the handling of Thar's electricity resources, alleging that cheap electricity sold to the federation is bought back at exorbitant rates by K-Electric, burdening Karachi's residents. He further demanded an explanation from Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah regarding the status of the Sindh Electric Power Regulatory Authority (SEPRA), claiming its establishment was merely to protect K-Electric's interests. Khalid affirmed PTI's commitment to advocating for Karachi's citizens and opposing the exploitation of Sindh's resources.
