Around 7 in 10 Pakistanis believe that only God controls the spread of COVID-19 in the country and hence, gatherings, wedding ceremonies, congregational prayer, and the opening of schools, colleges, and markets cannot cause infection: Gallup and Gilani Pakistan

Islamabad, September 03, 2021 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, around 7 in 10 Pakistanis believe that only God controls the spread of COVID-19 in the country and hence, gatherings, wedding ceremonies, congregational prayer, and the opening of schools, colleges, and markets cannot cause infection.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked the following question, “To what extent do you agree or disagree with only God controls the spread of COVID-19 in the country. Hence, gatherings, wedding ceremonies, congregational prayer, and the opening of schools, colleges, and markets cannot cause infection?” In response to this question, 55% completely agreed, 15% somewhat agreed, 13% somewhat disagreed, 9% completely disagreed while 8% did not know/did not respond.

Question: “To what extent do you agree or disagree with only God controls the spread of COVID-19 in the country. Hence, gatherings, wedding ceremonies, congregational prayer, and the opening of schools, colleges, and markets cannot cause infection?”
