Anti-Drug Message Takes Center Stage at GCU’s Thespian Art Gala

LAHORE: The third annual Thespian Art Gala at Government College University (GCU) Lahore brought together students from various universities to convey powerful anti-drug messages through performing arts.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry, Regional Commander of the Anti-Narcotics Force Punjab Brigadier Sikandar Hayat Chaudhry, and veteran actor Rashid Mehmood.

Brigadier Sikandar Hayat addressed the audience, emphasizing the widespread impact of drug addiction not only on individuals but also on their families. He praised GCU’s Anti-Narcotics Society for its efforts in awareness and prevention, urging collective responsibility to shield youth from the threat of drugs.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry highlighted the significance of art as a tool for social reform and encouraged engaging youth in constructive activities.

The gala featured participation from the University of Home Economics, Lahore College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Beaconhouse National University, and the University of Management and Technology (UMT), each presenting thematic stage plays addressing drug abuse.

Lahore College of Pharmaceutical Sciences emerged as the winner, with Beaconhouse National University as the runner-up. Faizan Fareed and Zobia, both from Lahore College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, were awarded Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively.

GCU’s Anti-Narcotics Society’s Theatre Wing debuted its first solo performance at the event, adding to the day’s impactful presentations.

The judging panel included esteemed personalities from the arts sector, such as Rashid Mehmood, Umar Dar, Amna Anwar Khan, and Ayesha Shehzad, who evaluated the performances.
