Islamabad: A seminar titled “Comparative Literature and Its Role in Bringing Cultures Closer” was recently conducted online by the Faculty of Arabic Language, Female Campus. The event gathered professors and researchers under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Fadlullah, Dean of the Faculty, and supervision of Dr. Samia Nazish, Chairperson of the Faculty of Arabic (Female Section).
The seminar was the concluding event in a four-month-long series organized as part of the Spring 2025 Academic and Cultural Season, running from February 15 to May 3, 2025. The initiative focused on encouraging research among postgraduate students and highlighting women’s contributions to society and the Arabic language.
Scholars from Al-Azhar University presented six seminars during the season. The first seminar, delivered by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Mardi, explored semantic studies between classical and modern scholars. On the same day, Prof. Dr. Essam Farouk Imam Ahmed presented on reviving heritage and modern linguistic studies.
Subsequent seminars included an analysis of discourse in Arabic rhetoric by Prof. Dr. Saleh Ahmed Abdul-Wahab, a discussion on women’s societal roles by Prof. Dr. Nahla Al-Saeedi, and a semantic reading of Qur’anic texts by Prof. Dr. Aziza Al-Sayfi.
The final seminar, led by Dr. Nafisa Mohamed Abdel-Fattah, focused on the role of comparative literature in fostering cultural understanding. The seminars, open to participants from within and outside the university, were deemed successful in meeting the academic and research objectives of the season.
Concluding the series, Prof. Dr. Fatima Rajab Al-Bajouri, who moderated the seminars, expressed gratitude to the female faculty members for their support in research and coordination. She also thanked the organizing team, including Dr. Fouzia Mir Taj, Dr. Amara Gulzar, and Researcher Khawla Tariq, and offered prayers for their continued success.
