SMIU Holds Beach Cleanup Drive for Independence Day Celebrations

Karachi: Sindh Madressatul Islam University's Faculty of Information Technology organized a beach cleanup drive under the title of "Clean shores, green Pakistan" as part of the Independence Day celebrations on Friday. The event was led by Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Khuhro, chairperson of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Sciences, with participation from faculty members and students.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, the cleanup activity forms part of a broader celebration of Pakistan's Independence Day, spanning August 1st to August 14th. Participants emphasized the increasing global issue of environmental degradation, noting that pollution affects water bodies such as rivers, seas, lakes, and canals, and stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness as a service to both the nation and the global environment.

Dr. Khuhro highlighted that the beach cleanup is one of SMIU's civic engagement initiatives for Independence Day. He noted the involvement of students from the Faculty of Information Technology in the effort to clean the Sea View beach and expressed their commitment to a cleaner and greener Pakistan. Dr. Khuhro also mentioned that the 79th Independence Day is being celebrated by giving back to the environment, a gesture of gratitude to the country for its freedom and secured future.
