SARGODHA: The University of Sargodha recently hosted "A Tribute to Sadequain," an event celebrating the renowned Pakistani artist, featuring an art exhibition and an artist talk. The event was organized by the university's Institute of Art and Design in collaboration with Gallery 21 and Sadequain Foundation USA. Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, attended as the Chief Guest and emphasized the significance of incorporating both science and the arts in education for national development.
According to University of Sargodha, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of preserving Pakistan's cultural heritage and passing on Sadequain's legacy to future generations. He praised the Institute of Art and Design for organizing the event, which provided students with an opportunity to engage with the nation's rich artistic traditions.
Director of the Institute, Ms. Maryam Saif, noted that the gathering served as a platform to honor Sadequain and engage with his artistic expression, which continues to resonate with new generations. Guest speakers, including Dr. Sumera Jawad and Mr. Nadeem Alam from the University of the Punjab, and Dr. Farrukh Seir from Gallery 21 Islamabad, discussed Sadequain's impact on modern Pakistani art through his life, philosophy, and distinctive artistic vision.
The event also featured the inauguration of the "Raaz-e-Fun" Art Exhibition at the Zubeida Agha Art Gallery, showcasing rare artworks and tributes inspired by Sadequain's style. The exhibition will remain open for students and art enthusiasts, offering a chance to explore and appreciate the artist's enduring legacy.
