Seminar on Makkah Joint Defence Agreement Explores Strategic Implications

LAHORE: The Centre for Public Policy and Governance, in collaboration with the Lahore Council for World Affairs, organized a seminar on the "Makkah Joint Defence Agreement," highlighting its strategic and geopolitical dimensions. The event, held in room E-002, also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations to facilitate academic and resource exchange.

According to Forman Christian College, the seminar brought together diplomats, historians, and defense analysts who delved into the implications of the agreement for regional security, defense cooperation, and the broader Muslim world. Ambassador Javid Hussain, President of the Lahore Council for World Affairs, inaugurated the seminar with remarks that provided context and a briefing on the agreement.

The discussion included contributions from Ambassador Shaukat Umer, former Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, historian and journalist Fakir Aijazuddin, and Dr. Noel Khokhar, Director of CPPG. The speakers presented their perspectives on the regional security landscape and strategic considerations related to the agreement, followed by an interactive session with participants from legal, defense, and diplomatic sectors.

CPPG reiterated its commitment to fostering informed dialogue on policy, security, and governance issues, drawing on varied perspectives from academia, diplomacy, and public policy.
