President Zardari Visits Kyrgyz Republic, Strengthens Economic and Parliamentary Ties

Bishkek: President Asif Ali Zardari, during an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, paid tribute to the nation's historical legacy and held a key meeting with the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament aimed at converting deep-rooted political goodwill into tangible economic and parliamentary cooperation.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari visited the Ata Beit Memorial Complex in Chong-Tash, where he laid a wreath at the central monument to honor Kyrgyz national figures and independence martyrs. He also toured the Ata-Beit Memorial Museum, viewing artefacts that detail Kyrgyzstan's journey to sovereignty.

Earlier, President Zardari was seen off at Issyk-Kul Airport by President Sadyr Zhaparov and was received at Manas International Airport by the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament and Pakistan's Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan. The President and Speaker Mamataliev Marlen Abdyrakhmanovich discussed enhancing parliamentary cooperation, expanding trade, and strengthening cultural exchanges.

President Zardari emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary engagement for bilateral relations and highlighted the active Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Parliamentary Friendship Group. He recalled President Zhaparov's 2025 visit to Islamabad and reaffirmed sustained parliamentary contacts. He reiterated Pakistan's commitment to its longstanding ties with Kyrgyzstan and congratulated Kyrgyz leadership on its United Nations Security Council election for 2027-2028.

Both sides reviewed progress on connectivity, trade, and educational cooperation. The Speaker expressed appreciation for Pakistan's enduring friendship. The meeting concluded with a dinner hosted by the Speaker in honor of President Zardari, attended by senior officials from both countries.
