Biotechnology Students Develop CharBoost to Enhance Soil Productivity

Lahore: Students from the Department of Biotechnology at the University of Central Punjab have developed an innovative biochar product, CharBoost, designed to naturally improve soil productivity. The biochar, made from rice husk, aims to support sustainable agricultural practices by enhancing water retention and promoting beneficial soil microorganisms.

According to the University of Central Punjab, CharBoost was developed under the supervision of Dr. Ammara Masood. The project exemplifies the application of circular economy principles by converting agricultural waste into a valuable soil amendment. By enhancing soil productivity through its highly porous structure, CharBoost supports sustainable crop growth, aligning with environmentally sustainable agricultural practices.
