Tetra Pak and WWF-Pakistan Honor Lahore School for Recycling Achievement

Lahore: Tetra Pak Pakistan and WWF-Pakistan have recognized Crescent Model Girls High School in Lahore for its outstanding efforts in collecting 173 kilograms of used beverage cartons as part of their collaborative Recycling Awareness Project. The school, which emerged as the Central Region winner, was awarded furniture made from recycled Tetra Pak cartons, demonstrating the transformation of used packaging into practical products.

According to WWF-Pakistan, the recognition ceremony took place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, featuring a summary of the school's carton collection efforts, a quiz with Tetra Pak's mascot, Captain Dubloo, and a mime performance on water conservation by senior students. Muhammad Bin Shahzad, Sustainability Manager at Tetra Pak Pakistan, emphasized the role of students as change makers, while Hammad Naqi Khan, Director General of WWF-Pakistan, highlighted the impact of student-led environmental actions.

The initiative, supported by Tetra Pak Pakistan since 2017, included 79 awareness sessions across multiple cities and a competition encouraging students to collect and recycle used cartons. Crescent Model Girls High School collected approximately 12,110 cartons and received furniture made from recycled materials as recognition for their efforts. The Recycling Awareness Project, implemented by WWF-Pakistan's Environmental Education Department, aims to integrate sustainable waste management practices into the education system, fostering active student participation in environmental conservation.
