Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore successfully conducted a Patent Training Workshop aimed at enhancing intellectual property awareness and innovation among its faculty members. Organized by the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), the event took place on December 23, 2025, in the VC Conference Room.
The workshop featured Ms. Shakra Khurshid from the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) Pakistan as the resource person. She provided a detailed presentation on the patent filing process, criteria for patentability, and the strategic importance of intellectual property rights in academic and industrial contexts.
Mr. Mueed Aman Rana, the Incharge of the IPO Regional Office Lahore, also participated in the session. He contributed to an interactive discussion, addressing queries related to patent filing and protection processes in Pakistan, which enriched the participants’ understanding of local patent procedures.
The workshop concluded with a ceremony attended by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, who reiterated the university’s dedication to strengthening its research, innovation, and commercialization ecosystem. He highlighted the significance of patents in converting academic research into societal and economic benefits.
Certificates of participation were awarded by Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir to attendees, who expressed their appreciation for the practical insights gained. Participants acknowledged the workshop’s role in advancing UET Lahore’s impact on the national innovation landscape.
