Panel Talk Highlights Youth Leadership for Climate Action and Clean Air

Lahore: The Green Youth Movement Club at the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, recently organized a panel talk titled “Generation Green: Inclusive Youth Leadership for Climate and Clean Air.” The event, held on December 23, 2025, focused on engaging youth leaders, experts, and stakeholders in discussions about sustainable climate strategies and clean air initiatives.

The panel was attended by notable figures, including the Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, and Fahad Shahbaz, Founder of the Youth General Assembly, Government of Punjab, who served as the chief guest and guest of honor, respectively. The panelists included Dr. Zafar Iqbal from EPA Punjab, Barrister Maimuna Ranjha of YGA Legal Forum, and other academic and environmental experts.

The discussion centered on the role of young leaders in promoting sustainable change through dialogue and practical commitments. Panelists provided insights into policy frameworks, legal advocacy, conservation efforts, and technological solutions aimed at improving climate resilience and air quality.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir emphasized the importance of academic institutions in research and innovation, as well as the need for government policy and community participation in air quality management. He introduced the concept of “Environmental Diplomacy” for international negotiations and reaffirmed UET’s dedication to developing sustainable solutions for smog mitigation.

Fahad Shahbaz highlighted the severity of smog and the importance of science-based solutions, praising the panel for fostering dialogue and commending UET’s Anti-Smog Gun invention for its potential impact on urban air quality.

The event concluded with the launch of the UET Cycling Initiative, which aims to promote sustainable mobility and reduce carbon emissions on campus.
