Lahore: The University of Central Punjab has announced a significant international partnership with the University of Leicester, launching a 2+2 academic pathway that allows students to split their undergraduate studies between the two institutions. This collaboration, aimed at increasing student mobility and global academic integration, enables students to earn degrees accredited by the University of Leicester.
The partnership was formalized in Lahore, with representatives from both universities in attendance. Students participating in this program will spend the first two years at UCP before completing their degrees at the University of Leicester. The degrees available through this pathway include Bachelor of Science in Economics and Data Analytics, and Accounting and Finance.
Mian Amer Mehmood, Chairman of Punjab Group of Colleges and Rector of UCP, emphasized the importance of globalization in higher education, stating that universities have a responsibility to prepare students for global engagement. This sentiment was echoed by Prof. Dr. Hammad Naveed, Pro-Rector of UCP, who highlighted the partnership as a reflection of UCP’s commitment to international collaboration.
Professor Dr. Daniel Ladley from the University of Leicester underlined the framework for academic cooperation and its benefits for curriculum development and student exchange. James Hampson of the British Council Pakistan noted the role such partnerships play in enhancing global competence and employability.
The British Deputy High Commissioner, H.E. Ben Warrington, praised the collaboration as a testament to the strong educational ties between the UK and Pakistan. Mian Amer Mehmood concluded the event by reiterating UCP’s dedication to providing Pakistani students with international opportunities.
This agreement marks the first formal partnership between the University of Leicester School of Business and UCP, with both institutions committed to maintaining academic and regulatory standards in the program’s implementation.
