UET Lahore’s Cybertect Con 2025 Showcases Robotics-Architecture Integration

LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore hosted Cybertect Con 2025, a one-day conference focused on the integration of robotics and architecture. The event brought together faculty, researchers, and students from the Departments of Architecture and Mechatronics Engineering to explore the impact of robotics on the construction and built environment sectors.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir underscored the significance of the conference, stating that the fusion of robotics and architecture is reshaping academic and industrial landscapes. He emphasized UET Lahore’s commitment to interdisciplinary initiatives that provide students with globally competitive skills and contribute to modernizing Pakistan’s construction industry.

The conference began with technical sessions led by the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, which highlighted the use of industrial and collaborative robots in construction processes such as automated fabrication, assembly, and inspection. These discussions emphasized the growing role of robotics in architectural practices.

Faculty from the Department of Architecture elaborated on integrating robotic fabrication tools into educational and research settings. This approach reflects shifting pedagogical and professional strategies in the field.

A notable feature of the conference was a live demonstration that showcased the use of a KUKA robotic arm with Grasshopper software. This integration allows for the direct translation of computational design into robotic motion. Students also presented on creative applications of robotic workflows, leading to a panel discussion on future collaborations between architecture and robotics.

The Human-Centered Robotics Lab demonstrated a fully operational robotic system, illustrating the complete workflow from digital design to physical execution. This presentation highlighted the practicality and scalability of such systems in architectural practice.

Cybertect Con 2025 facilitated interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration, reinforcing UET Lahore’s dedication to innovation and research excellence. The conference concluded with the Vice Chancellor presenting commemorative shields to distinguished guests, with expectations of stimulating future research and design strategies.
