Islamabad: The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held a seminar focusing on gender-responsive justice and career opportunities for women in fields like police, judiciary, prosecution, and the bar. The event, organized by the Department of Sociology in collaboration with Mojaz Foundation and UN Women Pakistan, aimed to shed light on the structural and social challenges women encounter in these traditionally male-dominated professions.
Professor Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, emphasized the importance of fostering a society where women can confidently participate in these careers. He praised the collaborative effort of the department and partner organizations in addressing gender justice.
Speakers at the seminar included Syeda Asma Naqvi from the National Highways and Motorway Police, representatives from Mojaz Foundation, and several academic professionals from IIUI. They discussed practical strategies to improve access, institutional support, and awareness for women in these fields.
The seminar also highlighted the increasing issue of digital violence and its significant impact on youth, driven by high internet engagement. Speakers stressed the role of academia in equipping students with the necessary awareness and critical thinking skills to foster a more equitable society.
Additionally, the event featured poster presentations and documentaries by Sociology students. These entries were evaluated by judges, with cash prizes awarded to the winners.
