Islamabad: The Travel Grant and Conference/Seminar/Workshop Committee of the International Islamic University Islamabad convened at the New Campus to evaluate proposals for future academic and research activities. Chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Vice President (Research and Extension), the session was facilitated by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Director ORIC, outlined the agenda and proposals, which included various departmental requests. Among them were a guest lecture, digital workshop, and AI-focused workshops on intelligent systems.
The committee also agreed to merge a seminar and a symposium into a joint event to be held by the Islamic Research Institute, the Department of Urdu, and the International Relations Department.
Plans for a conference titled “Caliban Speaks: International Conference on Re-centering Indigenous Thought in the Age of Neocolonialism and Technology” were reviewed, pending funding from the Higher Education Commission. Additional initiatives from the Islamic Research Institute received approval.
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed stressed the importance of aligning events with university policy and ensuring student participation. Budgetary considerations were discussed, and updates on academic activities were provided by faculty.
Attendees included key university officials and faculty members, with ORIC staff providing administrative updates.
