Scholars Call for Unity at Seerah Seminar in Karachi

Karachi: The 12th Seerah Seminar, organized by the Regional Da’wah Centre (Sindh), Karachi, part of the Da’wah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), convened religious scholars and academics to discuss “The Concept of the Muslim Ummah and Its Collective Responsibilities in the Light of Seerah.”

Speakers at the seminar emphasized the importance of reviving the spirit of unity and brotherhood inspired by the teachings of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). Dr. Syed Azizur Rahman, leading the Regional Da’wah Centre, highlighted the need for Muslims to seek guidance from the Prophet’s life to overcome feelings of despair.

Dr. Syed Mohsin Naqvi, a former member of the Council of Islamic Ideology, noted in his keynote address that the Muslim Ummah is rooted in mutual rights and compassion. He reminded attendees of the Quranic principle “Innamal Mu’minuna Ikhwah” and encouraged strengthening global bonds of fraternity.

Prof. Dr. Hafiz Muneer Ahmed Khan from the University of Sindh, who presided over the session, pointed out that Islam’s message is best spread through love and sincerity. The event featured several other prominent speakers, including academics from the University of Karachi and Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, Karachi.

In a subsequent session, Dr. Arif Khan Saqi of the University of Karachi emphasized promoting the message of Da’wah as a primary duty of the Ummah. He praised the seminar for addressing critical issues relevant to current challenges.

Mufti Dr. Noman Naeem highlighted the teachings of the Prophet as a path to success in both this life and the hereafter. He referenced the Mithaq-e-Madina as an early model of a unified community and urged Muslims to transcend divisions to align with the true message of Seerah.

Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed, Pro-Chancellor of Al Ghazali University, Karachi, underscored the unity of the Ummah based on shared beliefs. He stressed the importance of collective unity in facing modern challenges and supporting Muslims worldwide.

Dr. Syed Azizur Rahman concluded the seminar with an overview of Da’wah Academy’s initiatives, expressing hope that the discussions would inspire participants to embody the Prophet’s teachings. The seminar, moderated by Dr. Shehzad Channa, also included the distribution of shields to distinguished guests.

The event saw participation from a wide audience, including teachers, scholars, students, and members of the public.
