Women Shaping The Future: IIUI Hosts International Conference On Women’s Leadership

Islamabad: Former MNA Dr. Huma Chughtai urged women to seize leadership roles in all spheres of life at the First International Women Conference hosted by the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The conference, themed “Women Shaping the Future: Innovation, Resilience and Leadership,” brought together academics, policymakers, activists, and pupils to discuss the vital role of women in nation-building.

Dr. Chughtai, a human rights specialist, emphasized that leadership is not limited to high-ranking positions, but is evident in classrooms, communities, and all parts of society. She stressed the importance of empowering women through research, advocacy for human rights, and reforms to create a positive societal impact. She encouraged attendees to “lead where you stand,” advocating for a global perspective combined with local action.

The conference highlighted the contributions of women leaders in various fields. Deputy Chairman NAB, Sohail Nasir, described mothers as powerful examples of leadership and called for a comprehensive approach to guarantee women’s rights and involvement in policy decisions. Former MNA Aasiya Nasir underscored the importance of supporting marginalized women and promoting inclusivity for a stronger future for Pakistan. She emphasized the critical role of legislative action and effective policy implementation to ensure substantial participation of women.

IIUI Vice President Female Campus, Dr. Amna Mehmood, who organized and chaired the conference, outlined its objectives. She urged women to actively pursue opportunities in legislative and public administration sectors to empower society across various domains. The event also included discussions on career adaptability, the experiences of Palestinian women in conflict zones, women’s resilience, and cognitive diversity, showcasing the challenges, creativity, and strength of women in different situations. Former MNA Suraiya Asghar, Students Advisor (Female) Dr. Rukhsana Tariq, senior faculty members, and numerous students also participated in the conference.
