Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its fraternal bond with Azerbaijan, emphasizing shared principles, beliefs, and ambitions as the foundation of this relationship. He views Azerbaijan as a crucial ally and aims to broaden bilateral collaboration, particularly in commerce, finance, and transportation. Zardari stressed that improved commercial connections, investment alliances, and enhanced regional connectivity would foster closer relations between the two nations and contribute to mutual economic growth.
These pronouncements were made during a meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Zardari commended the ambassador on the landmark peace accord with Armenia, extending his congratulations to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and its citizens. He expressed confidence that the agreement would herald an era of enduring peace, stability, and economic progress for the region. He reiterated Pakistan’s belief in resolving disputes and conflicts through dialogue and peaceful methods, grounded in mutual understanding and respect.
He lauded the commencement of direct flights between the two nations, describing it as a catalyst for trade, tourism, and interpersonal connections. The president also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its unwavering backing of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, particularly its role within the OIC Contact Group.
