Sargodha: The University of Sargodha (UoS) has solidified its collaboration with China through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Zaozhuang School of Technology. This agreement aims to foster educational and technological cooperation, focusing on joint research and innovation in advanced energy technologies.
As part of this agreement, the two institutions have inaugurated a Joint Lithium Battery Research Centre, which will concentrate on advancing research in energy storage technologies. Additionally, plans are underway to establish a Joint Lithium Battery Manufacturing Unit in Pakistan, seeking to promote industrial-academic synergy and support technological advancement within the country.
The UoS delegation was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, along with Prof. Dr. Ijaz Asghar Bhatti, Director External Linkages, and Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan, Director of the Pakistan Institute of China Studies and Confucius Institute at UoS. The leadership from both institutions expressed their dedication to long-term collaboration in scientific research, innovation, and vocational education.
In addition to the MoU, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, joined by Prof. Dr. Ijaz Asghar Bhatti, represented UoS at the 2025 SCO Digital Economy Forum in Tianjin, China. Prof. Dr. Abbas participated in the forum’s opening ceremony and took part in a panel discussion on “Digital Economy and Higher Education Collaboration,” where he emphasized the role of universities in driving digital innovation and developing future-ready talent.
Prof. Dr. Abbas also attended the launch of the Digital Economy Universities Alliance, a platform designed to enhance cross-border collaboration in digital transformation across higher education institutions.
