Bangladesh to Host South Africa in Pivotal World Test Championship Series

DHAKA: The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced the dates for South Africa’s upcoming Test tour, set for October and November 2024. The two-match series, integral to the ICC World Test Championship cycle, will begin on October 21 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, followed by the second Test in Chattogram at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium starting October 29.

According to International Cricket Council, this series is crucial for both teams, currently positioned fifth and sixth in the World Test Championship standings, with Bangladesh holding a slight edge in point percentage over South Africa. Their previous encounter in early 2022 resulted in a 2-0 victory for South Africa, maintaining their unbeaten record against Bangladesh in Test matches.

The upcoming series presents a significant opportunity for both teams to improve their standings and vie for a place in next year’s championship final. Following this series, Bangladesh will compete against the West Indies, while South Africa is scheduled to play Pakistan and Sri Lanka at home.
