Rawalpindi: On the 10th anniversary of the Karbala captives, the city of Rawalpindi observed a series of funeral gatherings and mourning processions, illuminating the historical and spiritual significance of the events that took place centuries ago. The main assembly was held at the residence of Syed Fakhir Hussain Zaidi in Satellite Town, chaired by the late former DSP Syed Shakir Hussain Zaidi, where leaders and scholars recounted the enduring lessons of courage and truth from Karbala.

According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, the commemorative events focused on the teachings and sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions, who are revered not only in Islamic tradition but also as exemplars of human dignity and resistance against oppression. The gatherings emphasized the moral and ethical dimensions of the Karbala narrative, particularly the roles of Hazrat Ali Ibn Al Hussain (AS) and Sayyida Zainab bint Ali (AS) in confronting and overcoming the challenges of their time.

Speakers at the events highlighted the captives’ sacrifices as a “beacon light for humanity,” urging contemporary scholars and citizens to draw from their example to navigate current challenges with integrity and steadfastness. The processions and gatherings culminated in a central mourning ceremony in Wajs, where the community engaged in reflective mourning and spiritual recitation, reaffirming their commitment to the values espoused by the captives of Karbala.
