Karachi: Altaf Shakoor, leader of the Pasban Democratic Party, has urgently called for measures to prevent potential rigging in the upcoming Karachi matriculation and intermediate board exams. Highlighting past instances of fraud, Shakoor stressed the need for proactive steps to ensure transparency and fairness in the examination process.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, “Last year’s board exams saw significant rigging, with a commission later confirming the misconduct but failing to take action against major responsible figures.” Shakoor criticized the ongoing situation where those previously implicated in mishandling the exams still hold their positions, raising concerns about the repetition of such fraud.
The issue has drawn attention in recent years, with students and parents staging prolonged protests, which received considerable media coverage and political backing. However, despite the formation of a commission led by the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia NED, which acknowledged the rigging, only minor figures were blamed while key officials remained untouched.
Shakoor called for a collective effort from all political and social parties to address this corruption before the results of the current exams are announced, emphasizing that waiting until after the results would be too late. He urged the Sindh government to take decisive action against the corrupt elements within the examination boards to safeguard the future of the city’s youth.
