Islamabad: The 77th Pakistan Independence Day at the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) was marked by a vibrant display of patriotism, starting with a solemn recitation of the Holy Quran and the singing of the National Anthem. The event, organized by the Department of Student Affairs in collaboration with various student societies, saw the entire NUMS faculty and staff come together, each bearing the national flag, to honor the country’s freedom and history.
According to National University of Medical Sciences, the event featured the hoisting of the Pakistan flag followed by the singing of the National Anthem and milli naghma, symbolizing a collective act of patriotism. This was complemented by speeches and a cake-cutting ceremony that brought together the students, faculty, and staff in a show of unity and reflection on the sacrifices made by their ancestors for independence.
During the event, Muhammad Waheed Arshad, Convener of the Character Building Society, delivered a speech urging the youth to preserve national dignity and lead Pakistan toward progress. He highlighted the importance of remembering the sacrifices of forefathers and the need to protect the nation’s legacy at all costs.
The celebrations concluded with a symbolic walk by the students, faculty, and staff around the campus, embodying the spirit of unity and dedication that characterized the day’s events, which were designed to educate the youth about the Pakistan Movement and the history of their nation’s independence.
