Sargodha: The University of Sargodha successfully hosted the fifth session of its Green Ambassador Program, where participants engaged in hands-on training to transform food waste into organic bio-fertilizer and other products. This initiative, led by Prof. Dr. Fadzillah Adiba Abd from the Institute of Climate Change at UMT Malaysia and Dr. Julian Shaw, is part of an ongoing effort to provide students with practical skills for sustainable, low-cost production.
According to the University of Sargodha, the session aimed to equip participants with the knowledge to view waste as a potential resource. In a notable incident during the training, a participant questioned whether leftover cafeteria food was waste or a resource. By the end of the session, the food was converted into bio-fertilizer, exemplifying the program's emphasis on creating environmental and economic value from everyday choices.
The Green Ambassador Program is part of the university's broader strategy to cultivate environmentally conscious entrepreneurs. By focusing on self-sustainability and climate-smart livelihoods, the University of Sargodha continues to prepare its students to contribute to a more sustainable future.
