Karachi: A significant rally, titled “Free Aafia – Independence Day Rally,” is set to take place at Five Star Chowrangi in North Nazimabad on the eve of August 13, combining national Independence Day celebrations with calls for the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. The event is organized by the Aafia Movement and is expected to draw participants from a wide range of political, religious, social, labor, student, and human rights organizations.

According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, chairperson of the Global Aafia Movement, has urged the public to participate fully in the rally. The theme of the event, “Respect freedom… release the daughter,” underscores the dual focus of the rally: celebrating Pakistan’s independence and advocating for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release. The rally is planned to feature the singing of the national anthem and special prayers for the nation’s development and security at midnight, marking the official moment of Independence Day.
