PCB Partners with Educational Bodies to Boost Cricket in Pakistani Institutions

Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has signed multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Capital Development Authority (CDA), and Inter-Board Coordination Commission (IBCC) aimed at enhancing cricket infrastructure and promoting the sport across educational institutions in Pakistan. The agreements, signed today at the CDA headquarters, involve organizing cricket tournaments, establishing cricket academies, and providing special training programs for students and staff.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the ceremony was attended by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and other high-ranking officials. The MoUs will facilitate collaborative efforts to strengthen cricket from the grassroots level to higher education, incorporating both male and female players nationwide. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to foster young talent and improve the quality of cricket played in schools, colleges, and universities.

The PCB has committed to providing coaching courses for Physical Training Education teachers and free training for ground staff at educational institutions. Additionally, top performers in school and college tournaments will have the opportunity to join PCB’s U17 and U19 teams and receive advanced training at High-Performance Centres. The initiative also includes sports scholarships by the HEC for outstanding players.

PCB Chair Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating that organizing inter-school, inter-collegiate, and inter-university tournaments will help identify and nurture young talent across the nation. Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui highlighted the role of schools as nurseries of talent and mentioned the coordination role of the IBCC in overseeing tournament arrangements across educational boards.
