IoBM Honors Late Founder President Shahjehan Syed Karim in Seventh Memorial Ceremony

Karachi: The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) held its seventh memorial for its Late Founder President, Mr. Shahjehan Syed Karim, on July 20, 2024. The ceremony took place at the IoBM campus, commemorating the contributions and enduring legacy of Mr. Karim, who passed away on July 17, 2017. The event was attended by notable academicians and distinguished alumni who reflected on the profound impact Mr. Karim had on the institution and their personal careers.

According to Institute of Business Management, the memorial was moderated by Ms. Juveria Baig, HoD of Placement & International Cooperation, and featured recitations from the Holy Quran by Hafiz Humayun Baig. Mr. Talib S. Karim, President of IoBM, along with Ms. Sabina Mohsin, VP of the Foundation for Higher Education (FHE) and Chief Advisor, IoBM; Dr. Muhammad Kashif, Dean CBM; Dr. Muhammad Abbas, Dean CCSIS; and Dr. Nadiya Ayub, Dean CESD, were among the speakers.

Two IoBM alumni, Mr. Imran Haleem Sheikh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at BankIslami Pakistan Limited, and Mr. Taha Saleem, Additional Secretary of the Energy Department, Government of Sindh, shared their memories of Mr. Karim. They both highlighted his vision and the personal guidance he provided during their formative years at the institution.

Mr. Talib Karim recounted the challenges Mr. Karim faced while establishing IoBM and how his calm demeanor and steadfast belief in the mission of education helped overcome those obstacles. Ms. Sabina Mohsin emphasized Mr. Karim’s humble approach to leadership and his significant influence on her professional development.

The ceremony underscored Mr. Karim’s lasting impact on IoBM and its community, celebrating his life’s work and the values he instilled in the institution. His legacy continues to inspire current and future generations of leaders in academia and beyond.
