Karachi: Altaf Shakoor, Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party, emphasized the enduring relevance of the battle of Karbala as a symbol of resistance against tyranny, during a recent address. He highlighted how the historical event teaches not to succumb to contemporary forms of oppression and injustice.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, Shakoor articulated that the saga of Hussain, who is revered across many cultures, represents the triumph of humanity and integrity over deceit and tyranny. He pointed out that Hussain is celebrated not only for his martyrdom but as a beacon of ongoing life and resistance, while Yazid, despite retaining power, symbolizes death and corruption.
Shakoor stressed that today’s societal challenges oppression, betrayal, corruption, brutality, and terrorism mirror the ‘Yazidism’ of the past. He urged the people of Pakistan to embody the spirit of Hussain by standing firm against these modern-day adversities to safeguard basic necessities and uphold human dignity.
The chairman called for unity among all political and social forces to combat these injustices, irrespective of religious or sectarian affiliations, and to work collectively for the stability and betterment of Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of recognizing allies and adversaries in these efforts, advocating for a united stand against what he described as modern-day Yazidism.
