Islamabad, On the occasion of World Food Safety Day, President Asif Ali Zardari of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan emphasized the critical need for robust food safety measures amid increasing concerns about foodborne diseases and global pandemics. Highlighting this year’s theme, “Food Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected,” President Zardari called for significant advancements in food safety regulations, surveillance systems, and public awareness to safeguard the nation’s food supply.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the President stressed the importance of preparing for potential risks and vulnerabilities in the food chain by implementing strong preventative measures and improving emergency responses. This approach is vital in mitigating threats before they turn into crises. President Zardari’s message underscored the urgency of aligning governmental policies and stakeholder actions to enhance food safety standards and ensure strict compliance across the production, processing, and distribution sectors.

Further, the President advocated for the use of modern technology and research to better identify and address food safety challenges effectively. He also called for increased public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on the importance of hygienic food practices.
