Aga Khan University’s CIME Launches First International SIMPACT 2024 Conference in Karachi and Nairobi

Karachi, The Aga Khan University Centre for Innovation in Medical Education (CIME) launched its first-ever international conference, SIMPACT 2024, in Karachi, Pakistan, and Nairobi, Kenya. The conference, scheduled for May 20 to 21, aims to revolutionize healthcare education by bringing together professionals from various sectors, including medicine, nursing, and engineering.

According to The Aga Khan University, SIMPACT 2024 serves as a platform for fostering collaboration, innovation, and education in the healthcare simulation field. The hybrid event features both in-person sessions in Karachi and Nairobi and virtual participation options, ensuring it is accessible globally. Dr. Michael Moneypenny, Regional Director of CIME East Africa, highlighted the conference’s significance in advancing healthcare training and practice through innovative simulation-based education.

The conference features pre-conference hands-on workshops, keynote addresses, and panel discussions designed to enhance skills and encourage interdisciplinary cooperation. Over 300 attendees are participating, including experts in simulation technology and healthcare education. Dr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin, President of the Aga Khan University, inaugurated the conference, underscoring its role in improving patient safety and healthcare quality through simulation-based training.

Day two of SIMPACT 2024 will see the launch of the Network for Simulation in Pakistan (NSP), a new initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare education in the region. The conference will conclude with an award ceremony recognizing the contributions of the participants and the organizing team.
