GCU Lahore Hosts Advanced Research Training Seminars for Supervisors

Lahore, Government College University (GCU) Lahore recently conducted a series of training seminars aimed at enhancing the skills of MPhil and PhD research supervisors in producing high-quality international research. The sessions were led by renowned Plasma Physics scholar and Bochum University Fellow, Prof. Dr. Arshad Majid Mirza.

According to Government College University, the seminars focused on essential aspects of academic research, including the selection of relevant topics, the importance of conducting transparent and honest research, and the necessity for global collaboration. Prof. Dr. Mirza emphasized the value of setting clear research objectives and utilizing rigorous methodologies to achieve impactful scholarly work. He also highlighted the critical role of ethical considerations in research and the benefits of cross-institutional and international collaborations.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, who attended the event, noted that GCU is dedicated to elevating the quality of its research output through continuous education on research ethics, the dangers of plagiarism, and the pathways to publication in esteemed journals. She mentioned that the university plans to hold more lectures and training sessions featuring eminent academics and professionals.

The seminars also included practical guidance on data collection, analysis, and strategies for publishing in high-impact journals. Prof. Mirza urged participants to maintain a curious and open-minded approach to research, regardless of their specific fields or backgrounds.

Prof. Dr. Ikram ul Haq and Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmad remarked that these training sessions signify GCU Lahore’s commitment to fostering a robust culture of advanced scientific inquiry and research excellence. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Syeda Salma Hasan, Chairperson of the GCU Psychology Department, appreciated the discussions on innovative tools for plagiarism detection and ethical research practices, particularly concerning studies involving human subjects.
