Islamabad, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), visited the headquarters of Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya (TNFJ) in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. During his visit, he emphasized the need for unity in Pakistani politics and reiterated the PPP’s commitment to overcoming division and hatred in the country.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Chairman Bilawal expressed his intent to renew the relationships established during the era of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He underscored the damaging effects of divisive politics on Pakistan and called for collective efforts to build a stronger and better nation. Allama Agha Syed Hussain Muqaddasi, the head of TNFJ, announced support for the PPP in the upcoming elections. The meeting was attended by several TNFJ leaders, including Secretary General Allama Basharat Hussain Imami and additional SG Allama Syed Qamar Haider Rizvi, as well as PPP representatives like Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari.
In response to journalists’ questions, Chairman Bilawal discussed the PPP’s stance and actions in the political landscape. He clarified that the PPP was not part of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) when it joined the coalition government, stating that their participation was aimed at addressing the country’s challenges. He also mentioned his willingness to debate with Mian Nawaz Sharif, as part of a democratic tradition, and expressed surprise at Sharif’s reluctance to engage in such a debate.
Chairman Bilawal also addressed the political challenges in Punjab, specifically in NA-127. He criticized the actions against PPP workers in the region, alleging that the harassment and arrests were politically motivated and undemocratic. He questioned the rationale behind the arrest of councillors joining the PPP and suggested that such actions were indicative of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) insecurity and undemocratic tendencies. He further accused the PML-N of wanting to win elections without genuine competition and challenged the Punjab administration to justify the arrests of PPP workers.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s visit to the TNFJ headquarters and his statements highlight the ongoing political dynamics in Pakistan, particularly the challenges faced by opposition parties and the importance of unity in addressing the country’s issues.
