Asif Ali Zardari Stresses Democracy and Development in Balochistan at Hub Rally

HUB, Asif Ali Zardari, the former President of Pakistan and current President of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), emphasized the importance of democracy and development in Balochistan during a grand rally today in Hub, district Lasbella.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Zardari, while addressing the election rally, declared the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) as a federal party committed to serving the people, likening this service to worship. He stressed that democracy is the key to solving the nation’s problems and maintained that the PPP, despite suffering injustices, never resorted to armed conflict, but instead focused on street protests and rallies to uphold democratic values. Zardari reminisced about the leadership of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, mentioning how she championed democracy and became prime minister twice, and highlighted his own journey following her path, leading to his presidency.

Discussing the state of democracy in Pakistan, Zardari acknowledged its imperfections but noted its gradual strengthening. He specifically addressed the progress in Balochistan, stating that those resorting to arms need to understand the importance of democratic processes. He recalled the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Program initiated during his tenure, aimed at reconciling with and acknowledging the rights of the Baloch people. Zardari highlighted his efforts in releasing prisoners and encouraging them to view Pakistan as their home.

The former President also touched upon the financial aspects, mentioning the unanimous NFC Award introduced during his tenure, which significantly increased Balochistan’s budget. He expressed concern that the financial growth from the increased budget was not visibly impacting the region. Zardari promised to address the issues of Balochistan, including Hub, by developing infrastructure such as hospitals, water facilities, and universities, akin to those in Karachi. He also suggested that improved law and order could attract investment from Karachi to Hub.

In his speech, Zardari asserted that political forces are essential for solving Pakistan’s problems and appealed to the people of Balochistan, including Hub, to support the PPP in the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8.

The rally also witnessed enthusiastic support for Zardari, with attendees chanting slogans in favor of the PPP and its leadership. Notable PPP leaders and former officials, including former Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and others, were present to show their support.
