Karachi, The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore celebrated a milestone in empowering students by distributing laptops to 535 meritorious students under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme 2023 on Saturday.
According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the laptop distribution ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmed, with Project Director of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme/Focal Person Higher Education Commission Muhammad Majid Mustafa Khan also in attendance. The laptops were awarded to students selected on merit from various disciplines and departments of UVAS.
The event, graced by Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr. Muhammad Azam, Senior Tutor Prof Dr. Ali Raza Awan, Director Information Technology Center Muhammad Rizwan Saleem, as well as numerous students and faculty members, was held in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission at UVAS City Campus.
Addressing the students, Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmed congratulated the recipients and emphasized the significance of the government’s commitment to equipping youth with technological tools despite financial constraints. He encouraged the students to use the laptops not only for educational advancement but also to explore opportunities in E Rozgar & Freelancing to contribute to Pakistan’s economy. Prof Dr. Ahmed also shared UVAS’s recent achievements, including its ranking among the top universities globally and in Punjab.
Muhammad Majid Mustafa, speaking at the ceremony, reiterated the government’s resolve to empower students academically through laptop distribution on a merit basis. He urged students to use these devices for enhancing their educational pursuits and innovation.
Muhammad Rizwan Saleem delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of the management and IT staff in organizing the successful ceremony.
