IoBM Hosts Anti-Drug Talk to Raise Awareness Among Students in Karachi

Karachi, The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) hosted an Anti-Drug talk session on December 26, 2023, aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its consequences. The event was part of IoBM’s efforts to educate students, faculty, and staff on the illicit use of drugs.

According to Institute of Business Management, the session featured Col. Shakirullah, Joint Director of the Anti Narcotic Force (ANF) Sindh, and Dr. Sana Aslam, a Clinical Psychologist from ANF. Dr. Aslam’s comprehensive speech resonated well with the audience, eliciting keen interest and positive responses.

A significant portion of the session was dedicated to a question-and-answer segment, where students actively engaged by asking relevant questions about the prevalence and illegal use of drugs among Pakistan’s youth, particularly in educational institutions. The discussion highlighted the necessity of effective law enforcement and focused strategies to prevent and control the smuggling and distribution of illegal drugs and narcotics. It was noted that cities like Karachi and Lahore are especially affected by drug trafficking and the use of banned substances.

The role of parents in combating this issue was also emphasized. Parents were encouraged to closely monitor their children’s activities and take timely action to prevent drug abuse and addiction among the young generation.

The session concluded with Brigadier (Rtd.) Dr. Muhammad Abbas, Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Systems (CCSIS) and Chairman of the Anti-Drug/Smoking Committee at IoBM, expressing gratitude to the speakers for sharing valuable insights during the talk.
