National Textile University Enhances Street Education with Visit to Jhuggi Model School

Karachi, In a significant initiative to support street education, the National Textile University (NTU) Community Services Society, in collaboration with the Textile Design, Fashion Design, and Visual Arts societies, organized a visit to Jhuggi Model School in Faisalabad. The event, held on December 11, 2023, marked a pivotal step in NTU’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for street children.

According to National Textile University, the initiative was overseen by Dr. Muzammil Hussain, the focal person of Jhuggi Model School. Preparatory meetings were held on November 1 and December 5, 2023, under the guidance of the Advisor Office to discuss NTU’s role in this vital educational endeavor. The visit to Jhuggi Model School served as an interaction phase, initiating a bridge between NTU students and the street children.

Led by Convener Dr. Muhammad Shahzad Iqbal, the NTU Community Services Society (NCSS) team engaged with the children at the Jhuggi School. The visit included various activities, such as drawing and sports like ludo, cricket, football, and badminton. NTU students interacted closely with the children, creating an environment of learning and fun.

In a gesture of support, the NTU team donated essential items to the Jhuggi School. These included sports equipment, stationery, and winter essentials such as sweaters, high-necks, and socks. The donations were well-received by the Jhuggi community, who expressed their gratitude for the support and kindness shown by the NTU students. In a touching exchange of appreciation, the women of Jhuggi presented bangles to the female students of NTU as a token of love.

This visit highlights NTU’s active role in community service and reflects its commitment to fostering educational opportunities for underprivileged children. The collaboration between different societies of NTU demonstrates a united effort in making a positive impact on society.
