HEC Director Sports Javed Ali Memon Highlights Role of Educational Institutions in Sports Development

Karachi, Javed Ali Memon, the Director of Sports for the Higher Education Commission (HEC), emphasized the critical role of educational institutions in nurturing sports talent in Pakistan. This statement came during his address at the opening ceremony of the 10th All Pakistan HEC Intervarsity Girls Karate Championship. Memon served as the Chief Guest at the event, which was also attended by Dow University’s Director of Sports Dr. Mehnaz and other dignitaries.

According to Dow University of Health Sciences, Memon highlighted that martial arts, particularly karate, are not just about fighting but are crucial in character building, with a specific focus on promoting female talent in sports. He acknowledged the efforts in organizing the Girls Karate Championship and assured that similar events would continue in the future to provide more opportunities for young athletes. These events are seen as a platform for emerging talent, especially for girls, to showcase their skills on a national level.
