LUMS Alumnus Shayan Rabbani Receives Prestigious Chevening Scholarship

Lahore, Shayan Rabbani, a 2020 graduate of the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), has been awarded the Chevening Scholarship. He is currently pursuing an MSc in Business Analytics at Durham University and is the only scholar from Pakistan this year to receive the scholarship among 40 Pakistani entries and over 5,200 global applicants.

According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, Rabbani expressed honor at being the sole Chevening Scholar for Pakistan at Durham, highlighting the scholarship’s role in nurturing future leaders. He plans to use this opportunity for personal and professional development. During his time at LUMS, Rabbani was inspired by fellow students selected for international scholarships and aspired to represent his country globally. His selection from over 5,000 applicants is a significant achievement and a lifelong source of pride.

Rabbani credits LUMS for his accomplishment, acknowledging the faculty’s support and the interdisciplinary nature of academics at the university. His flexibility in choosing electives across different schools at LUMS, particularly in Marketing, shaped his interests and led to a career in Contextual Marketing at Jazz, Pakistan’s largest telecom operator. He reflects on the LUMS experience as one that instills a notion of continuous learning and equips students with skills for success in global organizations.
